Meet the Athletes

On Saturday, some of the top international highland games athletes will compete in such events as caber tossing and weight for height - in which we hope Vladislav Tulacek will set a ground record. The International Highland Games will feature:

Scott Rider (England) Current Braemar champion and recently won the World Caber Tossing title at Inverary.

Lucasz Wenta (Poland) Winner of the 2018 World Highland Games Championship at Balloch in July.

Vladislav Tulacek (Czech Republic) Came a close second at the World Heavy Events Championship in Vancouver, Canada earlier in the season and has been breaking ground records at numerous games this season, especially in the weight for height competitions.

Daniel Dorrow (Germany) German and Netherlands highland Games champion.

Stephan Solvi Petersson (Iceland) Icelandic strongman who has competed World's Strongest Man and in highland games - is particularly good at weight for height.

Danny Carlin (Scotland) Scottish highland games athlete who competes for Scotland in the shot putt.

Kyle Randalls (Scotland) Top Scottish hammer thrower in the highland games.

Neil Elliott (Scotland) Good all round highland games competitor, especially good with the caber.

The Ladies international Championship will feature:

Shaunagh Brown (England) English discus champion, firefighter and plays rugby for Scarletts in London.

Sylvana Bomholt (Germany) German highland games champion and powerlifting champion.

Kirsty Yates (Scotland) Scottish shot putt champion and Commonwealth games competitor.

Thora Porsteinsdottir (Iceland) Icelandic strongwoman and highland games champion.

Celine Gibb (Canada) Collegiate discus champion and competes in highland games in North America.

Lucy Marshall (England) English hammer champion and regular highland games competitor.

Laura Allan (Scotland) Scottish hammer thrower and highland games competitor.

Amy Holder (England) English discus thrower and a recent addition to the highland games circuit.
