WHEN IS THE EVENT IN 2022?

Friday 12 and Saturday 13 August.

WHAT IS AN ADVANCE TICKET?

Advance tickets are available until 5pm on Thursday 11 August 2022. After this time only the on the day prices will be available.

WHAT TIME WILL GATES OPEN?

Friday - gate opening time for all ticket holders is expected to be 8am.

Saturday - gate opening time is expected to be 7am.

these are also the times when the box offices will be open for anyone wishing to purchase tickets on the day.

WHEN DOES THE COMPETITION START?

Friday's competition programme is expected to begin at 10.45am.

Saturday's competition programme is expected to begin at 9am.

HOW DO I COLLECT MY PRE-PAID TICKETS?

If you don't already have your tickets but you have purchased them, then they can be collect prior to 4pm on Thursday 11 August from the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall or City Halls. On the day of the event, they can be collected from the box offices at Glasgow Green (NB - on Friday, two box offices are open, the North box office on Greendyke Street and at the People's Palace on the east approach to the event).

WILL I BE ABLE TO EAT ON-SITE?

Yes, a wide variety of catering will be available on site.

WILL I BE ABLE TO DRINK ON-SITE?

You are not permitted to bring your own alcohol, however licensed bars will be available on site from 11am both days.

IS IT JUST A PIPING COMPETITION?

Friday's programme includes pipe band competition only, as Grade 1 bands start the contest to be world champions.

There will also be traders onsite selling souvenirs, gifts and Worlds merchandise.

WHAT DOES A GRADE 1 TICKET ENTITLE ME TO?

A Grade 1 ticket gives access to Glasgow Green from when the gates open, and a reserved seat throughout the day. Grade 1 tickets are available for Saturday only.

WHAT DOES A GENERAL ADMISSION TICKET ENTITLE ME TO?

This gives access to the whole of Glasgow Green,

The Grade 1 Arena is open to all General Ticket holders on FRIDAY; seats allocated on a first come, first served basis.

ARE CONCESSIONS AVAILABLE?

Yes. Concession prices are available for full-time students; Senior Citizens; Jobseekers Allowance, and Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payment and Employment & Support Allowance recipients. Proof of entitlement must be shown when collecting tickets.

WHAT IS A FAMILY TICKET?

A family ticket represents excellent value for a family of two adults and up to 3 children. “Children” are from 6-15 years of age. Those aged 5 and under don’t require a ticket.

CAN I BRING MY DOG?

If you do bring dogs to the event we would ask that you follow the guidelines below:

  • Dogs must be kept under control and on a lead at all times
  • Owners are responsible for cleaning up after dogs so please remember to bring your own bags
  • You may be asked to leave the event if you do not keep your dog under control
  • Dogs should not be left unattended in vehicles

CAN I BRING A GAZEBO?

Band gazebos are permitted in Glasgow Green only on the grass areas along the fence line of the River Road where the coaches are parked, however they will be subject to inspection by members of the World Pipe Band Championships Health and Safety team. Please ensure that structures are erected and assembled following the manufacturer’s guidelines and in a manner as not to cause a public nuisance.

All gazebos being brought on to site must be compliant with the appropriate fire rating. Owners will be asked to remove their gazebo if it is not compliant.

In the event of adverse weather and in line with the events wind management plan you may be asked to add extra ballast / pegging or to dismantle the structure at certain gust levels. 

WILL THERE BE A CASH MACHINE ON-SITE?

Yes, but it would be a good plan to bring some cash with you in advance. If you are buying tickets on the day, it would speed up your entry to the park if you have the correct change available.

WILL THERE BE TOILETS AVAILABLE?

Yes, there will be toilets situated around the Green.

WILL THE EVENT BE LIVE STREAMED
