Band Information

To make sure that your day is as safe and straightforward as
possible, we’ve put together an information sheet for you, so
please take time to read the following points. We hope you
enjoy your day in Glasgow as much as we enjoy having you
here!

Band Practice – Tuning

The event organisers request that bands who wish to practise
in Glasgow’s parks are mindful of noise disturbance and
disruption to local residents. Where bands wish to practise
in a park, they should move to the centre and refrain from
practising around the periphery of parks where these are
adjacent to residential areas.

Practise in any of Glasgow’s parks should not take place
before 9am in the morning and bands should conclude
practise by 8pm in the evening.

Please find details of parks and open spaces across the city as
well as the park management rules here:
https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=15899

On Friday and Saturday morning, we ask that bands do not
commence practice until 8am, and to do so at designated
tuning areas inside Glasgow Green.

Stewards will assist in pointing you towards specific
tuning areas at the river side of Glasgow Green.

Supporter Tickets

Please ensure that all family
and friends travelling on your
band coach have a pre-purchased band supporter
ticket at the reduced price.
This includes coach drivers
and band tuners who wish to
enter the arena. All nonuniformed patrons entering
the site will be required to
have a ticket to gain entry to
the event arena. Those not in
possession of a ticket will be
advised to progress to the nearest box office and will be
required to purchase a ticket at the on-the-day price.
All bandsmen and supporters must use designated access
points.

Alcohol

The entire site of the World Pipe Band Championships will be
licensed to allow for the consumption of alcohol. However
you are not permitted to bring your own alcohol into the
event, or consume at your coach. Police Scotland will be
enforcing local by-laws and this could result in a fixed
penalty notice being issued.

Coach Parking

Your band will have chosen either the blue, red, yellow or
green access route so please find directions to enter the
arena at the correct entrance point on the back of your pass.
We strongly advise that coaches arrive as early as possible to
ensure access to your designated area. Please also ensure
that your coach driver completes their name and contact
details before arriving on site; coaches will not be permitted
to enter the Green unless this information is complete.
For those travelling to the event but not in coaches, and wish
to bring a motorhome or campervan, there are parking
facilities available in the Cathedral Car Park (opposite
Glasgow Royal Infirmary) which is approximately a 15 minute
walk from the Green. This car park is pay-and-display and is
chargeable per hour. For any further queries please contact
carparkinfo@cityparkingglasgow.co.uk In addition, King
Street NCP is also available. More information can be found
at www.ncp.co.uk/find-a-car-park/car-parks/glasgow-kingstreet/ Please note there is no parking permitted in or
around Glasgow Green.

Band Gazebos and Barbeques

Please be advised that band gazebos are permitted in
Glasgow Green on the grass areas along the fence line of the
River Road where the coaches are parked, however they will
be subject to inspection by members of the World Pipe Band
Championships Health and Safety team. Please ensure that
structures are erected and assembled following the
manufacturer’s guidelines and in a manner as not to cause a
public nuisance. In the event of adverse weather and in line
with the events wind management plan you may be asked to
add extra ballast/pegging or to dismantle the structure at
certain gust levels. Please work with us to ensure you and
your band members’ safety is not compromised.
Barbeques are NOT permitted
to be used anywhere within
the park. There is a wide and
varied selection of catering
facilities on site, so let
someone else do the cooking
for you!
